Dr. Delbert “Del” Gann
From the very beginning the Lord had a plan for my life; I just didn’t know what it was. After matriculating at a junior college, then two universities earning Masters and Ph.D. degrees, I was ready for my career, but the Lord was still not part of my life. During my college years I met the love of my life, the former Ms. Diane Cull. Five years later, the Lord blessed us with a beautiful baby girl, Dana Michelle. I moved the family to Pittsburgh, PA to begin work at ALCOA Research. It was during our tenure here that we began visiting a local Baptist church. The pastor there, knowing I was not a Christian, took me under his wing as his special project. After many discussions about the Bible, I finally accepted the Lord as my Savior.
After leaving Pittsburgh, we moved to Abilene, TX to begin a teaching career. After three years there at Hardin-Simmons University, I accepted a research position at the Colorado School of Mines, in Golden, CO. We attended a local Baptist church where we formed a strong bond with the pastor and his family. After three years in Colorado, I moved the family once again, this time to Jackson, MS taking a teaching position at Millsaps College. I remained there until I retired. During our time in Jackson, we became very active in our local church. While there I surrendered to the preaching ministry which has been a part of my life for the past 40+ years. In 2013 our life took another dramatic turn, when our daughter went home to be with the Lord following a ten year battle with colon cancer. She left behind our two precious grandchildren Tyler and Allie. Diane and I moved to the Village in 2017 and soon after joined Coronado Baptist Church. In July of 2021, I accepted a position at the Coronado Baptist Church as Pastor of Administration.
